During the whole month of February 2023, FOX Business Network (FBN) outperformed CNBC throughout business days and market hours, according to Nielsen Media Research. Also, the network claimed three of the top ten business television shows, including Kudlow (weekdays, 4 PM/ET), Varney & Co., and Kudlow, which celebrated one year as the top business program. The Morning Edit (weekdays, 9 AM–12 PM/ET) and The Evening Edit (weekdays, 5 PM–6 PM/ET).
Kudlow outperformed CNBC for the 17th consecutive month, maintaining its position as the top market program on television for a full year. It also witnessed a 50% edge in total viewers. Compared to Closing Bell's 200,000 viewers, the show had a total audience of 299,000. Varney & Co., a renowned software for market analysis, was created by Stuart Varney. Following closely behind, with an average of 282,000 total viewers, it outperformed Squawk on the Street/TechCheck by 39%.
With 118,000 viewers for the whole month, Maria Bartiromo's popular pre-market show Mornings with Maria (weekdays, 6–9AM/ET) outperformed CNBC's flagship program Squawk Box. Also, the program's 25-54 demo audience grew by 25% year over year.
In comparison to CNBC's 196,000 viewers, FBN's Business Day programming (9:30AM–5PM/ET) attracted 218,000 viewers overall. Many of FBN's primary Business Day programming, such as CAVUTO: Coast to Coast (weekdays 12–2 PM/ET; 180,000 P2+) and The Claman Countdown (weekdays 3 PM/ET; 162,000 P2+) with Liz Claman recorded year-over-year gains. The Big Money Show garnered 155,000 total viewers, and Making Money with Charles Payne (weekdays, 2 PM/ET) attracted 149,000 P2+ viewers. FBN programming received 210,000 total viewers during the crucial Market Hours (9 AM–4 PM/ET), surpassing CNBC's 197,000 viewers by 7%. 135,000 total viewers and 14,000 A25-54 viewers watched FBN from 6 AM to 6 AM ET.
For the sixth consecutive month, FBN's The Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald continued to dominate the competition during post-market coverage. The program attracted double-digit viewer advantages year over year in the timeslot, averaging 209,000 total viewers compared to CNBC's 172,000. The Evening Edit also represented FBN's best 5 PM/ET rating since January 2021. The Bottom Line, a recently introduced FBN program, finished the month with a 42% lead over Crazy Money/CNBC Special Report on CNBC (FBN: 180,000 P2+ vs. CNBC: 127,000 P2+). Barron's Roundtable (Saturdays, 10–10:30 AM/ET) had its highest-rated month ever in terms of total viewers (88,000 P2+) on Saturdays.
The top eight cable news shows, including Making Money with Charles Payne ($155,000), CAVUTO: Coast to Coast ($153,300), Wall Street Journal at Large (Fridays, 7:30–8 PM/ET); $151,000; and Varney & Co., were all acquired by FBN. ($150,400), The Claman Countdown ($146,700), Kudlow ($137,100), and The Big Money Show ($136,400), as well as Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street (Fridays, 7–7:30 PM/ET; $147,000).
