minute read

After retail sales increased by more than the forecasted 3% in January, an indication that consumer demand is durable in a difficult macroeconomic climate, stocks declined on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, these stocks experienced movement:

Roblox RBLX +24.17% (ticker: RBLX) increased by 25.4% following the release of stronger-than-anticipated fourth-quarter financial results by the videogame platform provider. Bookings during that time exceeded analysts' predictions.

The artificial intelligence loan firm Upstart Holdings (UPST) increased 22.1% despite providing first-quarter earnings and sales guidance that was well below analysts' expectations.

Trade Desk (TTD) increased 19.4% after reporting adjusted fourth-quarter earnings that were above Wall Street predictions and providing an optimistic first-quarter revenue outlook. A $700 million stock buyback scheme was also disclosed.

After the short-term rental firm reported improved fourth-quarter profit and revenue, as well as its first-ever annual profit, Airbnb ABNB +12.03% (ABNB), was up 10.7%. Additionally, Airbnb provided first-quarter guidance that surpassed Wall Street forecasts.

Devon Energy (DVN) was off 9.4% after the fourth profit at the oil and gas business declined from a year earlier and it indicated it anticipates first-quarter production to dip slightly from the 4th quarter.

Even though content delivery and security software provider Akamai Technologies (AKAM) report also indicated profits for its fourth quarter, the stock plummeted 7.7%.

After exceeding profits targets for the fourth quarter, Generac Holdings (GNRC) saw a 5.7% increase.

After Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B) reported that it reduced its investments in American depositary receipts of the chip giant by 86% in the 4th quarter, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing TSM -6.51% (TSM) fell 5%.

Shares of semiconductor producer Analog Devices (ADI) increased 4.8% after the company reported fiscal first-quarter profits that were above forecasts.

After Jefferies downgraded American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) from Buy to Hold, the stock fell 4.4%.

Tripadvisor TRIP +1.69% (TRIP) increased 1.1% after reporting fourth-quarter revenue that increased 47% from the same period last year due to ongoing improvement in travel demand.
